At Weber Shandwick, we help organizations communicate with purpose, clarity, and impact. We’re seeking an Account Director with deep experience at the intersection of global public health policy, emergency response, and strategic communications, capable of advising senior leaders in both government and international organizations.

 

The Opportunity

As an Account Director, you will:

  • Lead strategic communications and reputation management for clients across global health, public health, and life sciences, with a focus on emergency preparedness and response.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on risk communication, issues preparedness, and public trust, drawing on first-hand experience from multilateral and government response operations.
  • Shape integrated communications that bridge science, policy, and public understanding, making complex health data and policy accessible and actionable.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams to deliver media, stakeholder, and digital campaigns across regions, ensuring consistency, cultural sensitivity, and measurable impact.
  • Partner with Weber Shandwick’s global network to design evidence-based and behaviorally informed communications in health crises and policy advocacy contexts.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Hybrid global–U.S. public health experience: 10+ years working across international health partnerships (e.g. WHO, IFRC, IOM, UN Foundation) and U.S. federal public health agencies (e.g. CDC, White House Pandemic Office).
  • Crisis and emergency communication leadership: Hands-on experience designing and implementing risk communication strategies for outbreak and emergency responses; trained in Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC) principles.
  • Policy fluency and strategic advisory: Proven ability to brief and advise senior decision-makers on health security, pandemic preparedness, and community engagement strategies.
  • Multilateral coordination: Experience facilitating interagency and cross-sector partnerships (governments, NGOs, private sector, donors) during health emergencies and humanitarian crises.
  • Global and cultural perspective: Demonstrated capacity to work across continents and institutions, integrating insights from humanitarian and development partners.
  • Collaborative leadership: Skilled in mentoring teams and leading complex client portfolios under tight timelines and high visibility.
  • Credentials: Master’s in Public Health or equivalent. Native-level English proficiency; additional languages an asset.
